The Rambynas hill is holy place of Skalvian tribe, mentioned in the 13th century descriptions of Crusaders’ war routes. It is believed that a Skalvian castle called Ramigė stood on the top of the Rambynas hill, which was conquered by the Order of Crusaders. The Rambynas hill was washed underneath by the Nemunas and collapsed three times. The small 46 meters high foothills is all that remains now.
