The project focuses on a virtual tour around the surroundings of Rambynas (within the Rambynas Regional Park), which is easily manageable and accessible to a wide range of visitors. Thanks to video, audio and other effects, they can get acquainted with the environs of Rambynas from the earliest times known to us (dating back to the Skalvian tribe) until today. The virtual map of the surroundings includes three main complexes, which are important from archaeological, historical, natural or cultural perspective and are located within the Rambynas Regional Park. The area is comprised of Rambynas – Bitėnai, Šereiklaukis and Vilkyškiai environs. The description of each object is divided into three historical parts – the Baltic (Skalvian), German (Prussian Lithuanian) and Lithuanian (Republican) periods. This way, the development of this land is revealed from the cultural-historical and natural point of view.
This virtual tour is a journey through time, which matters in cognitive terms to the people of Lithuania, especially to the younger generation – pupils and students who would like to become familiar with one the most vivid parts of the Lithuania Minor ethnic region. The virtual journey is also important to the former inhabitants of Lithuania Minor, who were forced to leave their homeland forever after World War II and are spread all over the world now, and to the descendants of those people.
